Pathwright Privacy Policy

Our mission at Pathwright is to multiply the impact teachers have on the world. In order to do that, we know it’s essential to keep your trust and the trust of your students and staff when it comes to keeping your data secure and private.

With that in mind, we (meaning Pathwright and its owner, DUO Interactive, LLC–collectively referred to as “Pathwright”), strictly implement this Privacy Policy for how we collect, use, disclose, share, and store your data.

By accessing or using Pathwright, you agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service, so please take the time to review the policy and contact us with questions or concerns.

Information we collect

Account owners and organizations

When you sign up for a new Pathwright account in order to create and/or teach courses, offer subscriptions, and more under your own url and organization name, we ask for your name, email address, and organization name as the “Account Owner.” On some occasions, if you’re the Account Owner or acting on behalf of the Account Owner’s organization and have requested to meet with our team or when it’s required to execute a service-related agreement, we may also collect your phone number (but only with your permission).

This information helps us personalize your new account and enables us to send you invoices, updates, and other essential information.

Non-owner accounts

When you sign up as as a learner, teacher, or any other non-owner role, we ask for your name and email address which is used on your profile and as your login username.

Note that this same information is visible to and controlled by the organization who owns the Pathwright account you subscribed to our joined a course under. Pathwright has no visibility or control over how these organizations use your information so we suggest you review their terms and policies as well and contact the organization directly with any questions.

Pathwright will never sell your data

Whether you're an account owner or non-owner, Pathwright will never sell any of your personal info to third parties for advertising or any other purpose. We also won’t use your name or company in marketing statements without your permission.

Additional information we may collect

If you message Pathwright with a question or meet with us, we’ll keep your messages, name, and email address for future reference. We may also store other information you share with us at your discretion (for example, a response to a survey or interview).

When you browse our marketing pages, blog, articles, and other content, we implement third-party tools (like Google Analytics and Intercom) that track additional information using “cookies”, “web beacons”, and similar technology to collect stats like pages viewed, viewed time, browser version, device used, and other information that’s helpful to analyze and use to improve Pathwright and to provide more helpful support guidance.

Information we share

We’ll only share your information outside of Pathwright for:

  • Providing functionality such as data storing and hosting (through Amazon Web Services), payment processing (through Stripe), support services (through Intercom) and other services critical to providing Pathwright functionality you choose to use.
  • Integrating with a third-party service provider you choose to use to enable additional features or functionalities within Pathwright (for example, signing in with Facebook or using Zapier.com to send data to another service provider).
  • Sharing information that you give us permission to do so or choose to make the information or content public through Pathwright on your own.
  • Engaging a third party vendor software tool (like Google Analytics) to track data and insights on how Pathwright is used and may be improved or to provide more personal guidance (i.e., we use third-party tools that match your email address with social media profiles and other information you’ve made public in order to communicate more effectively with you).
  • Investigating, preventing, or taking action regarding suspected illegal activities or other violations of our Terms of Service or when required by law.
  • Complying with a court order to share it. Pathwright will not turn your data over to law enforcement unless a court order requires us to do so. Unless we’re legally prevented from doing so, we’ll also inform you when such requests are made.
  • Sharing best practices and industry data with customers or potential customers, but only when the information shared is aggregated and anonymized so that it cannot be personally identified.

How we protect your data

Pathwright takes precautions, including administrative, technical, and physical measures, to safeguard your personal information against loss, theft, and misuse, as well as against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.

  • Data is backed up daily and stored on multiple servers. Any files you upload are stored on servers that use modern technology to reduce points of failure.
  • Any data transmitted to Pathwright by you or your members via a web browser or API is sent securely under HTTPS.
  • All credit card transactions are processed using bank-level secure encryption and transmitted, stored, and processed securely on a PCI-Compliant network.

Security breach / data loss policy

While we take all reasonable measures to secure your data, no network or system (including ours) can honestly be guaranteed to be 100% secure against data loss or unauthorized access. If you believe your information may not be secure for any reason, please contact us immediately at secure@pathwright.com and we'll take immediate action to investigate the issue and resolve it.

Managing your information

We make it easy to access any information (including personal information) we collect about you and your members and to exercise your rights in updating or removing data and controlling how we contact you.

  • You can access, correct, amend, or delete any content you create or post within Pathwright anytime. Note that any content you delete (including some containing personal information) may be retained in an archived form to enable backup or view revision history when necessary.
  • As an Account Owner, if you’d like to permanently delete any of your data stored by Pathwright or data requested to be deleted by one of your non-owner account members, please contact us at secure@pathwright.com with your request and we’ll permanently delete the data within 30 days. (Please note that permanent deletion of some data through this process may impair or disable some features that rely on that data.)
  • If you’d like to permanently delete data stored by Pathwright as a non-owner who is using Pathwright within another organization’s Pathwright account, please contact the organization you’re using Pathwright under first as so that they can process your request for deletion of Pathwright data while also deleting your data in other databases they control that Pathwright has no access to. If you are unable to reach the organization you’re accessing Pathwright through or they refuse to remove your data from Pathwright, then please contact secure@pathwright.com with your request and we’ll permanently delete your data within 30 days.
  • You may access, correct, amend, or delete personal information we have about you by logging into your account and navigating to your Account page.
  • If you're an Account Owner and wish to cancel your account, you may do so by sending your request to hello@pathwright.com or by using the in-app messenger. When you cancel your account, personally identifiable information associated with your account will be deleted as soon as is reasonably practicable or as required by applicable law.

    Please note that we may retain information that is otherwise deleted in anonymized and aggregated form, in archived or backup copies as required pursuant to records retention obligations, or otherwise as required by law.

Opt out of marketing communications

If you're an Account Owner or Administrator, have signed up for a course at Pathwright Grow, or signed up for email updates, then we'll occasionally use some information we collect for marketing purposes, including to send you promotional communications about new features, products, courses, events and other opportunities. If you want to stop receiving these communications or to opt out of use of your information for these purposes, please follow the opt-out instructions by clicking the "Unsubscribe" (or similar opt-out language) included within each of these communications. You can also contact us at hello@pathwright.com or via our in-app messenger in order to opt out.

Cookies and tracking technologies

If you would prefer not to accept cookies or otherwise wish to disable our use of tracking technologies, then you must change your browser settings to disable or delete existing cookies or to automatically reject future cookies. Note that disabling cookies may limit your ability to use some parts of Pathwright and embedded third-party services.

Some tracking technologies we use on our public websites are part of advertising networks who may share certain information such as IP addresses to better target ads. However, Pathwright only shares anonymous, non-personally identifiable information with these advertising networks.

International Transfers (including Transfers Outside of the European Union)

Pathwright processes and stores information on servers located in the United States. By using Pathwright, you consent to the transfer of information (including Customer Information, Content, and personally identifiable information) to locations outside of your country of residence.

You acknowledge and agree that you can legally transfer it to the United States or another country or you cannot use Pathwright to collect or store EU data or content.

With respect to transfers of information out of the European Union (EU), we may process some personally identifiable information pursuant to data processing agreements that include the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Information from children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected the personal information of a child under 13, we will take steps to delete the information as soon as possible. Please contact us at secure@pathwright.com if you believe we have any information from or about a child under the age of 13.

Policy changes & questions

Any information that we collect is subject to the version of the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is collected. We may, however, revise our Privacy Policy once in a while. If a revision is significant (as determined solely by us) we will notify you via email or by a prominent message displayed within Pathwright. The current version of our Privacy Policy will be posted to our Privacy Policy page for your review at any time.
