Blocks

We recently added several quality-of-life improvements to Blocks:

  • New Button Block. Add a clickable button to your Blocks that links to any destination. This is perfect for linking to external resources like forms, websites, or internal apps.

  • Updated Meeting Block. We noticed many of you creatively used the Meeting block for various link types—which inspired our new Button block above. We've updated the Meeting block with the same improvements, making it even easier to edit.

  • Link directly to a block. Want to share a specific question, file upload, video, or piece of Block content? Simply click the "link" icon in the top right of any Block to get a direct link that smoothly scrolls to the Blocks location within the Step.

We're also in final testing on updates that make Blocks more accessible to screen readers and other accessibility tools. If you'd like to help test these features, we'd welcome your feedback.

Christian Shockley, our Head of LX, wrote a new article applying the televised career of Mr. Rogers to teaching. If Mr. Rogers were teaching now, he’d use structure with a dash of surprise, admit when he didn’t know, help learners be honest, and use silence.

As with previous years, Pathwright sponsored our hometown’s arts festival, Indie Craft Parade. Mark Johnson built custom software for running the jury process as well as an interactive map of all this year’s vendors.

Educator, journalist, and author Jeremy Caplan shared how he uses AI throughout his day to work more creatively and efficiently. It’s your chance to see how thoughtful use of AI can make everyday work as an educator, technologist, or creative a little smoother.

It’s easier than ever to keep your paths up-to-date and in sync. We recently simplified how you can publish updates to your Paths. A few highlights:

  • In Design mode, expand your Path to quickly spot unpublished draft changes for a Lesson or Step. (Tap or hover over the cloud icons to see more information or next steps.)

  • When you press Publish, you'll see a more helpful change review list as well as a few handy shortcuts.

  • If you have multiple Cohorts taking the same Path, you can now spot which steps are unique to a Cohort and which are in-sync with the Source Path.

For an in-depth look at these improvements, check out this overview in our help center.

In this session, Mark and Paul reflected on their 25-year journey of building Internet software during two pivotal eras of Internet history. And as we enter this third era catalyzed by AI, shared an unexpected “pivot” that they think the the Internet — and education — is heading towards.

Offering a certificate of achievement can help motivate your learners and increase the value of your courses. Now you can design your own custom certificates, including:

  • Design with your branding — colors, fonts, and custom backgrounds.

  • Add a signature and custom text on the certification.

  • Add variables for the learner’s name, completion date, and CEUs or credits received.

Certificates automatically generate as soon as a learner completes the required Path steps. They can then download their certificate as a PDF to print.

The new certificate creator is available starting with the Complete Plan.

You can learn more about adding a custom certificate to your Paths in our Help Center.

This year Pathwright is a main sponsor of our hometown’s indie tech conference, Grok. We’ve been involved all 15 years of Grok. But this year Mark Johnson, our CTO, and Paul Johnson, our CEO, gave a keynote talk together. It’s a genuine pleasure meeting and swapping ideas with fellow tech folks every time we go to Grok. We were happy to be a part of it again for 2025.

Tidy up disorganized corners of your Library that haven't gotten attention recently. We just completed a few such improvements to your Pathwright Library:

  • About Pages are no longer one-way streets. Now, there's a 'More in...' section at the bottom that showcases other Paths in the same category to explore.

  • Author images now show up at the very top of the About Page next to each author's name — a tiny way to show a personal touch and establish credibility.

  • It’s now easier to search and filter the Library.

  • …and there are 20+ tiny adjustments to text sizes, spacing, and interface clarity resulting in a smoother, more modern feel.

If you’re freshening up your Library’s look, our Brand Your Account Path walks you through simple steps for making your Pathwright account a compelling, consistent place for your learners to learn within.

We recently launched three quality of life improvements to the Inbox:

  • Quickly see who has left feedback. If you have multiple people who share feedback on learner submissions, it is now easier to scan the Inbox to see who has chimed in and who hasn't. If someone needs a quick nudge, just click the airplane icon to ask them to give feedback, and they will be notified. Learn more about the Inbox and the latest upgrades here.

  • Get more context. As you review a submission, it can be helpful to have more context about where in a path it was submitted or what the learner who has submitted it has been up to. Now you can quickly click on the Step title or the Learner's avatar to view the Step and Learner Profile Card.

  • Remember your settings. If you check or uncheck the "Notify..." option under a Review, your choice is now remembered for the next review as well.

We welcome your suggestions for further optimizing the Inbox — please contact us at hello@pathwright with your feedback anytime.
